Dan has been with Chemstar Water since 2013. He joined the company as a Service Technician right after graduating from the Towson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. After 6 years in the role and making a big impact at our customers, Dan was promoted to the Service Manager role. He has been managing the service team since then. Dan has set an example in the company with his diligence, rigor and high ethics. In his free time, Dan enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, traveling to National Parks, photography and building computers.

JOB PURPOSE

The New Business Development Manager will work on various types of customer equipment including: potable systems, cooling systems, boilers, cooling towers, direct evaporative cooling equipment and other heat exchange systems ensuring water quality at their facilities. The Account Manager, along with the service team, is our face to the customer and is critical in ensuring outstanding service levels for our customers. The successful candidate will provide water testing, analysis, and consultation services for our customers by using knowledge and background in water treatment. This individual will work closely in cooperation with the company’s Technical and Commercial Team to ensure the customers’ needs are exceeded.

TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Job is split into 3 sections: 60% New Business Development; 25% Field Engineering and customer service including water testing; 15% account management.
  • Ability to review and understand the scope of work for each customer and follow it.
  • Proactively plan for all Customer visit requirements in order to arrive, gain access, and carry out the work without delays. This will include any personal protective equipment that may be needed and any required spare parts for installation.
  • Collect the required water samples, perform the required water quality tests in the field, and note the results of all testing in the Chemstar-online reports app.
  • If there is a service technician servicing the account, then verify the water analysis and testing is completed by the service technicians to the company’s standards and ensure an outstanding service standard is delivered. For those accounts, the New Business Development Manager is expected to visit the customers and report on at least on a quarterly basis to ensure verification of the service quality and rapport with the customer.
  • Able to build relationships with customers, from the operational site level up to the decision-makers, by providing visit summaries, identifying opportunities and areas of improvement, and stimulating business growth.
  • Manage the relationship with the qualified buyers (executives, senior executives, director of facilities etc.) of the assigned key accounts and ensure all the expectations from the customer are met and exceeded.
  • Train service technicians and customers on water treatment parameters and the expectations from the customers.
  • Establish and ensure that the scope of work and service plans are in line with the contract or proposal for each of the customers; and ensure the company’s services comply with the scope.
  • Create professional proposals in line with the company’s proposal templates and pricing guidelines set by the supervisor.
  • Negotiate contract terms, and price changes with the customers. Renegotiate terms and conditions in order to limit the company’s liability especially with legionella sampling and testing accounts.
  • Be the customer advocate and coach/influence the operations teams internally so that the company continues to maintain a customer-centric approach.
  • Improve profitability within the existing key accounts – by better managing the dosage, inventory, ordering patterns and other opportunities.
  • Follow and uphold all safety measures of the company and the site.
  • Make all required adjustments to chemical feed rates based on results. Be sure to document all corrective actions are taken or recommendations for the customer.
  • Maintain and validate operations of all water treatment equipment during visits which may include: cleaning, calibration, and adjustments (pumps, repair tubing, chemical tanks, controllers, etc).
  • The successful candidate will provide water testing, analysis and consultation services leveraging training and previous experience, including experience with water treatment systems (boilers, cooling towers, ROs, clarifiers, raw water and wastewater) and working closely with the company’s Technical Team and Commercial Team to exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Ability to understand when the work required is outside the contracted scope to ensure proper billing.
  • Manage chemical inventory at the customer sites and reorder as needed. Minimize the number of chemical deliveries required to the customer by exploring various options for optimizing the controls.
  • Ensure and maintain good housekeeping at the Chemstar WATER site and the customer locations.
  • Deliver chemicals as needed (5-gallon pails).
  • Act from a perspective of bias for action and customer-centricity in resolving issues quickly.
  • Support other Account Managers and Service Technicians to service customer accounts as needed by being flexible.
  • Maintain or ensure good service logs and records to ensure correct billing for customers.
  • There will be a ratio between how much this role will do account management vs. service execution and the %s will be determined based on the region, customer, or the person’s capabilities.

JOB PURPOSE

The position of the Technical Installer & Repair Technician will have the ability to interact with all Chemstar WATER’s customers. This highly technical role will be delivering and installing equipment, partner with the technical engineering teams to design custom customer solutions and be able to leverage their expertise to resolve customer problems. The ideal person must have the understanding or ability to learn and grow their knowledge of Water Treatment terminology, concepts, and equipment. This role will be expected to collaborate closely with the company’s Technical and Commercial Teams to exceed our customers’ expectations.

TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains a Plumbing License
  • Install equipment, controllers, pumps, and necessary piping or tubing for water treatment systems
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Some electrical knowledge needed
  • Have understanding of piping including copper pipe up to 2”, solder copper pipe up to 2”, install PVC piping, install stainless steel tubing
  • Repair any leaks for copper, steel or CPVC piping
  • Replace pumps and tubing if needed at customer sites

  • Perform work utilizing proper PPE and following safety protocols of the company and the site

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 10+ years of experience in plumbing (residential or commercial)

Leveraging in-house expertise in Chemistry, Water Treatment Equipment, and Operations our Equipment & Chemical Delivery Technicians partner with customers to extend the lifecycle of their Heating and Cooling equipment and monitor any bacteria.

 

JOB PURPOSE

The Operations Technician is a key member our company to support our customers who rely on mission critical chemicals, pumps and other products delivered and or installed to help maintain the utmost water quality at their facilities. The position of the Operations Technician covers many aspects of our business. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the business and advance within the company.

  • Pump chemicals into tanks at customer sites as needed.

JOB PURPOSE

The Customer Service Specialist is a key member of our organization as our Sales, Service, Operations, Leadership and Production teams rely heavily on our office personnel to support day to day and long-term project execution. Operations support specialists perform a range of value added and administrative functions. This position will encompass all aspects of order processing including cost inquirers & validation, quotes, sales/work orders, invoicing, bill of lading, customer support and communication and other functions. The ideal person must have the understanding or ability to learn and grow their knowledge of Water Treatment terminology, concepts, and equipment. This role will be expected to collaborate closely with the company’s Technical and Commercial Teams to exceed our customers’ expectations.

TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act from a perspective of bias for action and customer-centricity in resolving issues quickly.
  • Provide timely operational support for all departments as necessary to meet customer requirements
  • Track orders and shipments based on expected dates
  • Handle a variety of general office tasks such as data processing and file organization
  • Contact vendors as needed to provide updates
  • Update internal price lists for equipment, upon receipt of updates from vendors.
  • Prepare QuickBooks quick quotes and or support with other quotes.
  • Enter and process sales orders, issue bill of ladings
  • Receive and check items delivered to the facility. Review customer purchase orders, verify the equipment ordered and pricing was accurate, and verify once received matches or assist with resolving with the person who requested.
  • Prepare and coordinate customer mailing/shipments
  • Basic abilities on how to do basic sizing of water treatment equipment, pumps, piping, tanks etc.
  • Able to provide administrative support for operational execution, reporting and invoicing of key tasks.
  • Administer company’s CRM system in adding customers, contacts, managing users, revising, or updating workflows.
  • Tracking sales and work orders (any activity billed to the customer) from purchase order to execution and ensure they are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Be able to quickly navigate customer and company documents to provide field staff support
  • Processing monthly status and work summary reports for the Field Service Technicians
  • Coordinate and support operations for lab testing and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with security clearances / badges.
  • Create journal entries in QuickBooks
  • Ordering supplies, equipment, and coordinating delivery
  • Assist with production department internal support, ordering, and quality reporting.
  • Assist operations department with order processing

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 5+ years of service and operations support work experience (College or Associate Degree preferred)
  • Strong abilities to navigate ambiguous problems and proven abilities to innovate
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, grow
  • Ability to receive and act on feedback to promote a lessons-learned culture
  • Proficient/willing to become proficient with Association of Water Technologies testing standards
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
  • Good written, verbal, & math skills; including filling out lab reports & communicating with customers
  • Strong understanding of enterprise computer systems including Office Suite, Enterprise Planning Software (eRP) and others (ERP)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, understands value of time and executes with a sense of urgency.
  • Is a natural problem solver with time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Detail and process oriented to ensure orders/data is complete or able to identify and resolve issues with minimum supervision
  • Good understanding of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Teams and HubSpot or similar
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be a U.S. citizen
  • Able to come into the office in White Marsh Maryland at least 3 days a week

  • Able to build relationships with customers, from the operational site level up to the decision-makers, by providing visit summaries, identifying opportunities and areas of improvement, and stimulating business growth.
  • Manage the relationship with the qualified buyers (executives, senior executives, director of facilities etc.) of the assigned key accounts and ensure all the expectations from the customer are met and exceeded.
  • Train service technicians and customers on water treatment parameters and the expectations from the customers.
  • Establish and ensure that the scope of work and service plans are in line with the contract or proposal for each of the customers; and ensure the company’s services comply with the scope.
  • Create professional proposals in line with the company’s proposal templates and pricing guidelines set by the supervisor.
  • Negotiate contract terms, and price changes with the customers. Renegotiate terms and conditions in order to limit the company’s liability especially with legionella sampling and testing accounts.
  • Be the customer advocate and coach/influence the operations teams internally so that the company continues to maintain a customer-centric approach.
  • Improve profitability within the existing key accounts – by better managing the dosage, inventory, ordering patterns and other opportunities.
  • Follow and uphold all safety measures of the company and the site.
  • Make all required adjustments to chemical feed rates based on results. Be sure to document all corrective actions are taken or recommendations for the customer.

  • Ensure and maintain good housekeeping at the Chemstar WATER site and the customer locations.
  • Deliver chemicals as needed (5-gallon pails).
  • Act from a perspective of bias for action and customer-centricity in resolving issues quickly.
  • Support other Account Managers and Service Technicians to service customer accounts as needed by being flexible.
  • Maintain or ensure good service logs and records to ensure correct billing for customers.
  • There will be a ratio between how much this role will do account management vs. service execution and the %s will be determined based on the region, customer, or the person’s capabilities.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-year industrial degree or 3+ years of Water Treatment / Field Service experience
  • Strong abilities to navigate ambiguous problems and proven abilities to innovate
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, grow
  • Ability to receive and act on feedback to promote a lessons-learned culture
  • Proficient or willing to become proficient with Association of Water Technologies (AWT) testing standards
  • Able to perform basic hands-on plumbing and electrical work
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
  • Good written, verbal, and mathematical abilities; including filling out lab reports and communicating with customers
  • Strong understanding of enterprise computer systems including Office suite, ERP
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be a U.S. Citizen
  • Able to perform physical duties that may include: lifting 50lbs over 2-3 flights of stairs
  • Can work in a hot and humid environment (+100F)
  • Able to climb up ladders to access rooftops

 

TERRITORY

  • Any of these regions are acceptable: Washington, DC; Northern Virginia; Baltimore, MD; Columbus, OH; San Francisco Bay Area, including Stockton, Sacramento, and Napa.
  • Accounts will be assigned based on geographic location
  • Can live in any area within the service territory to start from home to service accounts
